William D. Embrey, Sr., 84, of Staunton, Illinois, formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, born February 18, 1936, in Chunky, Mississippi, died Friday, December 25, 2020, at Helia Healthcare of Belleville, Illinois.

William was retired from I.N.X. Ink in St. Louis, MO. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He liked to hunt and fish and always made sure that he planted a garden every year,

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, nee Veath, Embrey; a son, Kevin M. Embrey; his parents, Alfred and Louise, nee Castle, Embrey; a grandson, Eric Embrey; and brothers, James "Bud" Embrey, Sr. and Charlie Embrey,

Surviving are his children, William (Marci) D. Embrey, Jr. of West Virginia, Paula Kennealy of Fairview Heights, IL, Julie (Troy) Summerfield of Arkansas, Jeanette (Pat Molton) Pool of Staunton, IL, and Keith (Shannon) Embrey of Chicago, IL; nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. He was also a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or any Animal League Animal Shelter.

A Gathering of Family and Friends (following CDC guidelines) will be held from from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 12:30 p.m., with Pastor Roger Reid officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis County, Missouri.
