WILLIAM E. BENTON, 76, of Cahokia, Illinois, born December 11, 1940, in Herrin, Illinois, died Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Memorial Convalescent Center in Belleville, Illinois.

Mr. Benton was retired from Monsanto W. G. Krummrich Plant in Sauget, IL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ann Benton, nee Benish; a son, Jeff Benton; and his parents, Robert and Francis, nee Alexander, Benton.

Surviving are are his children, Wendy Harris of Cahokia, IL, Kim Voorhees of Granite City, IL, Kelly (James) Nieman of Imperial, MO, Mike Benton of Granite City, IL, and Jason (Jenny) Benton of Columbia, IL; two brothers, Jim Benton of Arkansas and Al (Karen) Benton of St. Louis, MO; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Benton of Corning, AR; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Illinois. A Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Ridenour officiating.
