Todd "Dale" Thornton, 56 of Cahokia, Illinois, born October 7, 1961 in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Memorial Hospital Belleville, Illinois.

Dale was employed by the Village of Cahokia as a Operator foreman and was a member of local 520 Operating Engineers. He was an active Centreville Township Trustee and an avid golfer. Dale loved German Shepherd dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Katherine, nee Horton, Thornton; a sister, Barbara Montague; two brothers, Dennis "Moses" and Robert Thornton; and his father-in-law E.L. Smith.

Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Sue Thornton, nee Smith; two sons, Dale (Brooke) Thornton Jr. of Waterloo, IL. and David (Kasey) Thornton of Dupo, IL; his siblings, Alice Bayard of Valmeyer, IL., Chester Thornton of East Carondelet, IL., Vernon (Michelle) Thornton of East Carondelet, IL., Rich (Tammy) Thornton of Marissa, IL., Ruthie (Terry) Reichardt of Hazelwood, MO., Rohn Thornton of Dupo, IL., Lohn (Tonya) Thornton of Dupo, IL; and two granddaughters, Tenley and Greenley. He was also a dear uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and friend to many.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family

Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Braun Family Funeral Home, 265 Quarry Road, Columbia, llinois.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Roger Reid officiating. Burial will be in Palmier Hill Cemetery Columbia, Illinois.
