Obituary

Stephanie A. Mitchell, 53, of St. Louis, Missouri, born February 18, 1972 in Belleville, Illinois, died Sunday, July 20, 2025 at St. Louis University Hospital.

Stephanie was brave and strong, with a heart made of pure gold. She always had a heart to help others, no matter who they were or where they came from. Her kindness knew no boundaries. Stephaine was a woman of God—faithful, loving, and full of grace. She touched so many lives with her generosity and unwavering spirit

Stephanie was very artistic.  She enjoyed listening to music, painting and making different craft projects. However, her biggest talent was her poetry. She loved writing poems and was in the middle of writing a book.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine Mitchell;, nee Groves; a son, Devin Nichols;  a brother, Raymond "Marty" Mitchell, Jr.; and two grandmothers, Margaret Groves and Rosemary Mitchell.

Surviving are her children, Keegan Mitchell of Colorado, Tierria (Jramuel) Nichols of St. Louis, MO, Jacob (Shaelynn) Nichols of Colorado, and Hayley (Vontarius, Jr.) Gordon of Madison, IL; her father, Raymond Mitchell, Sr. of O'Fallon, MO;  her sisters, Amy Alexander of Waterloo, IL, Christina Wilson of Texas, Theresa (Jim) Lundy of Nashville, IL, Desieree Kolberg of St. Peters, MO, and Jessica Mitchell of O'Fallon, MO;; and three grandchildren, Montavion Gordon, Maliyah Nichols, and Naomi Mitchell. She was also a dear niece, aunt, cousin, and friend.

A private cremation was to be held. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois.  A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Deacon Aaron Hall, Sr. officiating.
