Obituary

Shirley Seyferth, nee Burnes, 89 of North Dupo, Illinois, born August 31, 1936, in E. St. Louis, Illinois, died Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, IL, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley worked as an Activity Assistant and Volunteer for RSVP (through BAC and SWIC) at what is now Autumn Meadows in Cahokia, IL, for over 25 years. She also worked for many years at Monday's Maid Laundromat in Dupo, IL. Shirley grew up on McBride Ave. And attended North Dupo Bible Church. For the last several years, she has attended Johnson Road GB Church, in Granite City, IL. Shirley loved to paint before Alzheimer's took that ability from her. But that didn't take the joy of singing away from her and she would often sing specials at Church and loved to sing with the Praise Team and did so on her 89th Birthday just 3 days before she passed. She was preceded in death by her loving Husband of 63 years, John Seyferth, two sons Phillip and Bruce Seyferth; a daughter, Doris Seyferth; her parents Claude and Dessie, nee Hannah, Burnes; and four brothers, Jack, Leo, Lloyd and Richard Burnes. Surviving are her children, Diana (Joe) Powell of Granite City, IL, David Seyferth of North Dupo, IL, Jerretta Seager of North Dupo, IL, and Jefferson (Laura) Seyferth of East Carondelet, IL; two brothers, Robert (Connie) Burnes of Dunnellon, FL and Dale Burnes of Du Quoin, IL; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren. She was also a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. Shirley was lovingly referred to as "Momma Shirley and Granny or Grandma" by the many people that loved her.
