Obituary

Shirley Mae Doolin (Weigel) nee Livengood, of Dittmer Missouri, formerly of Cahokia, Illinois since 1955. She was born August 12, 1932 in Richwoods, Missouri and passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2025, exactly 48 years from the passing of her late Husband George Weigel.

Shirley was a founding member of Bethel United Church of Christ, Cahokia Illinois until it closed in 2020. Shirley worked at Centerville Hospital in the nursery, she also volunteered as a candy striper and loved serving others. She found joy in everything she loved. Shirley loved her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Livengood: mother, Dorothy Van Coutren, nee Chapman; stepfather, Cyril Van Coutren; brother, Bobby Livengood; her first husband, George Albert Weigel; her second husband, Billy L. Doolin; oldest son, George Leroy Weigel; and granddaughter, Amber Michelle Weigel (daughter of Allen Weigel).

Surviving are her sons, Allen Weigel (Julie Hamilton) of Dittmer Missouri and Steven (Brenda) Weigel of St Louis Missouri, daughters, Karen (Gary) Zeller of Afton Missouri and Dianna (Richard) Western of Belleville Illinois; and several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one great great grandson.  She was also a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri with her first husband, George Weigel.
