Sharon Fay Burnes, nee Newton, 75, 0f Cahokia, Illinois, born September 5, 1943, in Cahokia, Illinois, died Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Memorial Hospital - East in Shiloh, Illinois,

Sharon was a retired restaurant manager. She volunteered much of her time with Soldiers Angels. She was a "true red" Cardinals fan.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Stockton; her parents, William Glenn and Eleanora, nee Otten, Newton; a brother, Arthur Dean Newton; and two sisters, Shirley Todd and Gwenda Capper.

Surviving are her loving husband of 52 years, Richard L. Burnes, Sr.; her children, William Burnes of St. Louis, MO, Gwynne (Pete) Allison of New Baden, IL, Richard (Teresa) Burnes, Jr. of Venedy, IL, and Eric (Heather Cates) Burnes of Festus, MO; a brother, Norman Dale Newton of Columbia, IL; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was also a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Friends may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Illinois. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Lacefield officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
