Sarah "Betty" Elizabeth Schmidt, nee, Rhoads 86 of Dupo, IL, born August 25, 1936 in Bakersfield, MO, passed away on Saturday April 1, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Sarah was retired but spent most of her time enjoying family. Her hobbies, quilting, sewing, reading, traveling, most of all playing on her computer.

Preceded in death by her loving husband Walter Schmidt whom she married on February 14, 1953. Parents Joseph & Luretta (Cook), Rhoads, 1 sister Linda Rhoads and 2 brothers John & Joseph Rhoads. 3 son-in-laws David Icke, Gary Ross, Dennis Carlile. 1 daughter-in-law Kathlleen Schmidt. 1 sister-in-law Judy Rhoads. 1 brother-in-law Carl Hadley. 2 great grandchildren Matthew Carlile and Bryanna Bixler.

Surviving are her children; Michael (Elizabeth) Schmidt of Lutz, FL, Deborah Ross of Dupo, IL, Diana Carlile of Dupo, IL, Bryan (Donna) Schmidt of St. Louis, MO, Dawn (Jim) Freeman of Fairview Heights, IL, Eric (Mary) Schmidt of O'Fallon, IL, Douglas (Michelle) Schmidt of Dupo, IL. Siblings Mary (Richard) Stewart of Doylestown, OH, Samuel Rhoads of Pottersville, MO, William (JoAnn) Rhoads of St. Louis, MO, Martha Hadley of Pottersville, MO. 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Sarah was a dear cousin, aunt and friend to many.

Visitation will be on Tuesday April 4, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Braun Family Funeral Home 265 Quarry Rd. Columbia, IL.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday April 5, 2023 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Father Steven Thoma officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL
