Sally A. Fanning, nee Petterson, 79, of Columbia, IL, born November 28, 1941 in East St. Louis, IL, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Columbia Rehab & Nursing Center.

Sally retired from the education side of the VA Department in St. Louis, MO,She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Valmeyer, IL. She loved work in the garden and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Valeria, nee Williams, Petterson; a brother-in-law, William Dill; and s sister-in-law, Marge Petterson.

Surviving are her husband of 16 years, David E. Fanning; her children, Jeff (Becky) Pflasterer of Melville, MO, Christopher Eric (Amy) Pflasterer of St. Louis, MO, Dana (Tom) Baker of Coco Beach, FL, Jaym (Kim) Fanning of Red Oak, TX, and Jeni (Christopher) Leeks of Gainsville, FL;. a brother, Jim (Diane Dittweiler) Petterson of Waterloo, IL; four sisters, Sue (Ed) Fulton of Collinsville, IL, Karen Dill of Glen Carbon, IL, Nancy (Jim) Dowdy of Highland, IL, and Patti (Barry) Gregory of Belleville, IL; four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Sally was also a dear aunt, cousin, sister-in-law and friend to many.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, 201 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Braun Family Funeral Home 265 Quarry Rd Columbia, Illinois, and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Funeral services will be on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Boorsman officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Cemetery in Belleville, Illinois.
