Roy E. Comte, 81 of Columbia, IL. born September 18, 1939 in Murphysboro, IL, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Mercy South in St. Louis, MO.

Roy retired from Falling Springs Rock Quarry, where he worked as the main mechanic and welder. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local #148 out of East St. Louis, IL and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Columbia, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Helen, nee Gola, Comte; a son, Steven B. Kukorola; a brother, Cecil Comte; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Comte.

Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Dana R. Comte, nee Shaffer; one sister, Mary Lou (Tom) Viner of Indiana; one brother, Bobby Ray Comte of Cahokia, IL; and a grandson, Steven E. Kukorola of Columbia, IL. Roy was also a dear father, uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Braun Family Funeral Home, 265 Quarry Rd Columbia, IL. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ron Chase and Pastor Alan Miller officiating. Burial will be in Kolmer Cemetery in Waterloo, IL.
