Roger Wayne Whitten, Sr., 64, of Cahokia, Illinois, born July 6, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri, died Monday, June 4, 2018, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.

Roger was employed as a bus driver for ATS in East St. Louis, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and June, nee Stewart, Whitten, Sr.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 47 years, Jenness Whitten, nee Tayon; his children, Tammy Lynn (Sergio) Quintero of Tecate, Mexico, Angelique Lynette Whitten of Dupo, IL, Rebecca Jeanne Whitten of Greer, SC, Roger Wayne Whitten, Jr. of Cahokia, IL, and Andrew Thomas Filpula of Sacramento, CA; three brothers, Louis "Edward" Whitten, Jr. of Belleville, IL, Doyle Dean Whitten of Belleville, IL, and Richard Dwayne Whitten of Jasper, AL; his mother-in-law, Emma Jean Tayon of Cahokia, IL; four grandchildren, Sarah Johnson, Sean Johnson, Malique Davis, and Kayin Gilinger; and two great grandchildren, Izabel and Connor. He was also a dear brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.

In following Roger's wishes, his body was to be cremated. Any type of service will be held privately. Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Illinois handled the arrangements.
