Robert E. Stoner, 85, of Prairie du Rocher, IL, born August 20, 1937 in East St. Louis, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Robert retired from St. Louis Downtown Parks Airport, where he worked in the maintenance dept. for many years. Robert loved entertaining people by playing his steel guitar. He played music in multiple bands "Rod Brown and The Country Styles, Majestic Band, Cash River Band, and Second Shift Band". He built his own plane, a Fokker-D VIII, and many model airplanes throughout his life. He loved to fish, and go squirrel and rabbit hunting. "He Lived his Dream" spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death, by his parents Jestus L. and Alyeene, nee Burgess, Stoner and brother-in-law, Glen Nelson.

Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley Stoner nee DeRossett, whom he married on June 5, 1957; his children, Cynthia (Kerry) Wills of Wolf Lake, IL, Karen (Daryl) Junge of Baldwin, IL, Todd (Chris) Stoner of DuBois, WY, and Rodney Stoner of Stoutland, MO; and a sister, Janet Nelson; his grandchildren, Kristi Reich, PJ Kinder, Dawn (Jason) Brawner, Brandon Junge, Alexus Derossett, Cheyenne Stoner, Colton Stoner, Jessica (Drew) Knop, and Ashley Radenz, great grandchildren; Austin, Alexus, Keaton, Tyler, Rylee, Gage, Lily, and Tonya (Lil T); and a Godchild, Dana Moyer. Robert was also a dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Braun Family Funeral Home, 265 Quarry Rd. Columbia, IL, and on Thursday. September 22, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Braun Funeral Home.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Joshua Boyer officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Illinois.
