Robert "Be Bop" Lee Darnell, Sr., 80 of Cahokia, Illinois, born November 23, 1938, in East St. Louis, Illinois, died Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at his residence.

Robert was retired from Foley Park in Belleville, IL. He also worked as a security officer at Centreville Township Hospital. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4596 in Cahokia, IL and volunteered time at the V.F.W. Post in Cahokia, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cordy Darnell and Florence, nee Moody, Joslin; a grandson, Nathan Branscum; two brothers, Frank and Curly Joslin; and a sister, Dorothy Kovrac.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Dorothea "Dottie", nee Follmer, Darnell; his children, Frank (Edna) Williams of Owensville, MO, Robin (Kenny) Davis of Cuba, MO, Cathy (Roger Banscum) Darnell of Cahokia, IL, Robert (Kellie Diers) Darnell, Jr, of Cahokia, IL, and Michael (Gloria) Darnell of Cahokia, IL; three grandchildren, Crystal Bequette, Pamela (Michael) Peden, and Rocky (Michelle) Follmer; 13 great grandchildren. He was also a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Friends may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Illinois. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. At Bob's request a cremation will follow.
