Obituary

Robert "Bobby" R. Capps, 53, of Cahokia, Illinois, born May 21, 1973, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by “His Girls” and Brother-in-Law.

Bobby was employed by the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District as a Heavy Equipment Operator, and for over 25 years a member of the Operating Engineers Local 513 in St. Louis. His passion for barbequing led him to start the FBI BBQ competition team; a member of the Eagles Aerie #4066 in Wappapello, MO; and the Vice President of the Columbia Sportsman Club in Columbia, IL. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved spending time at the farmhouse, enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, side by sides, snowmobiles and enjoyed several years racing dirt track cars. Bobby loved a cold Natty Light and a shot of Fireball with friends. He was very funny with a quick wit and loved to make people laugh. But most of all, he was the best Girl Dad and so proud of his daughter’s.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bob” N. Capps; his in-laws, Wesley and Susie Johnson; and his grandfather, Finis “Jim” Carrigan.

Surviving are his wife of almost 34 years, Cyndi Capps, nee Johnson; his daughters, Chelsea (Jason) Renaud and Trinity (David Gonzalez) Capps, both of Dupo, IL; his mother, Violet (Clark) Maddox of East Carondelet, IL; a sister, Lisa (Danny) Followell of Bladenboro, NC; a brother-in-law, Randy (Kara) Johnson of Belleville, IL; his grandchildren, Landon, Adam, Wesley, and Harper; his very dear friends, Doug and Renea Daesch of Belleville, IL and their son, Jake (Meghan) Daesch; and his "code one", Memphis, his chocolate Lab. He was also a dear uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.
