We mournfully announce the passing of Peggy Ayres on  Monday, January 12, 2026 of Cahokia, Illinois. She was born on July 2,1932 in Leaksville, North Carolina.

She was a half pint of woman known as "Pistol pulling Peggy". One never to back down and hold her ground. She was a Jack of all trades around the house. Always taking something apart and putting it back together.  Many days you could find in her back yard admiring her wild flowers she planted.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Rodgers and Elma Rodgers nee Grogan;her loving husband of 72 years, Donald Ayres;. sisters, Ann Midkiff and Bobbie Calhoun.

She is survived by her sisters, Faye Grose/Micky and Marie Melton/ Wade; daughters, Marsha Delaney, Donna Ayres, and Rissie McComb/Ron of Cahokia; grandchildren, Shawn Mackey, Sarah Delaney, Isahm Gilbert, James Gilbert, Lenna Huggins/Jim, Eddie Leoso/ Kyllie, Maylene Baxter/Jerad and RosaLei Leoso; great grandchildren, Kai Gilbert, Kaleb, Kyler, Ellie, and Karysen Leoso, Mitchell, Rylen and Warren Baxter-Leoso and Theodore Currens-Leoso; nine great great grandchildren; and her companion that she spoiled relentlessly, Buck.

Private services will be held.
