Nina M. Smith, nee Kortz, 91, of Dupo, Illinois, born July 23, 1932, died Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Woodlands of Arnold, Missouri.

Nina was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dupo, IL, where as long as she was able, she was an active member of the Women's Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.L. Smith; a daughter, Susan J. Thornton; a son-in-law, Dale Thornton, Sr; two brothers, Edward J. (and wife Patricia) Kortz and William Kortz; and a sister, Catherine (and her husband (William) Shoulta.

Surviving are her sons, Randle (Carol) Smith of Columbia, IL, Robert (Dianna) Smith of Barnhart, MO, and William A. (Diane) Smith of Oakville, MO; a sister-in-law, Shirley Kortz of Paducah, KY; seven grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Christopher Smith, Todd Dale (Brooke) Thornton Jr., David (Kasey) Thornton, Angela Smith, Bryan (Monika) Smith, Jennifer (Ata) de Erausquin,; and ten great grandchildren, Caleb, Tenley, Noah, Greenley, Blake, Leo, Cylas, Kate, Decker, and Tysen (and soon to be born, Sofia)  She was also a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Friends may visit from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dupo, Illinois.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Father Evaristus Akabueze officiating.  Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.,
