Mona M. Mothershead, nee Recklein, 85, of Fults, Illinois, formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, born July 11, 1939, in Ballwin, Illinois, died Sunday, June 22, 2025, at her residence.

She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Maeystown, IL, which is the church she was baptized in. She was a lifelong avid Bingo and card player. Mona loved to be outdoors, especially going fishing. When her son was young, she was very active in his Boy Scout Troop.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David F. Mothershead; her parents, Robert George and Icie Opal, nee Jones, Muskopf; two brothers, Robert and James Muskopf and a great grandson, River Mothershead.

Surviving are her children, David (Melissa) Mothershead, II of Fults, IL and Dawn Mothershead of Imperial, MO; two brothers, Richard (Paula) Musokpf of Steeleville, IL and Kevin Howie of Sparta, IL; three sisters, Dottie Ricketts, Carol Mayjor, and Leisa Gentry, all of Sparta, IL;, four grandchildren, Deana (Jason) Simpson, Kelsie (Cody) Wetzler, David Mothershead III, and Max Mothershead; and a great grandson, Nolan.  She was also a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend.

In following Mona's wishes, a private cremation was held. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois.  A Memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home with Pastor Patrick Poole officiating.
