Michael "Mike" S. Poppe, 77 of Valmeyer, IL, born December 7, 1946 in Rector, AR, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at his residence.

Mike was a U.S. Marine Vietnam War Veteran and member of the American Legion Post 901 of Valmeyer, IL. He retired from Consolidated Freightways in St. Louis, MO. He loved fishing, reading and writing books.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julious and Lola, nee Eaton, Poppe; son, Larry Dale Poppe; grandson, Michael Paul Poppe.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Katherine Poppe, nee Pearson; son, Michael Shane (Dana) Poppe of Farmington, MO; three grandchildren, Ashley, Alexia and Caitlin; four great grandchildren. He was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Braun Family Funeral Home Columbia, IL.

Graveside Service at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Woodland Heights Cemetery Rector, AR.
