Michael "Mike" J. Brawn, 77, of Columbia, Illinois, born July 22, 1948 in East St. Louis, Illinois, died Monday, June 22, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was a retired professional counselor from Educational Therapy Center in Collinsville, IL.  He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Bethany Church in Columbia, Illinois. He loved playing the guitar and was a member of the Praise Band at his church. He was a very skilled wood worker and could make anything or fix anything. Mike loved being on the water especially in a kayak.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Olive, nee Corbin, Brawn; a sister, Lucinda Sawyer;

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Martha "Marty" Brawn, nee Bunger; a daughter, Molly (Ryan) Klohr of Columbia, IL; a brother, Alan Brawn of Vista, CA; two grandchildren, Evie and Everett Klohr.  He was also a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

In accordance with Mike's wishes a private cremation was to take place.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois. A Memorial Service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Reverend Allynn Walker officiating.
