MARILYN "DUTCH" D. BEMENT, nee Gischer, 79, of Shiloh, Illinois, formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, born June 7, 1938, in East St. Louis, Illinois, died Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Memorial - East Hospital, in Shiloh, IL.
Marilyn was a retired legal secretary for Charles R. Oldham, Attorney at Law. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Columbia, IL and the Belleville Health and Fitness Club where she loved to work out.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Bement; her parents, Anthony and Margaret, nee Krause, Gischer; three sisters, Marjorie Baumgarner, Dolores Gischer, and Mary Lindsey; a brother-in-law, Gene Lindsey; a nephew, Gerald M. Gischer.
Surviving are her children, Karen (John Kuschnieryk) Eilers of Tucson, AZ and Roy Searcy of Red Bud, IL; her step children, Gary (Cheri) Bement of Fairview Heights, IL, Sheryl (Steven) Bradley of Waterloo, IL, Scott (Shelli) Bement of Columbia, IL, Kevin (Kathy) Bement of Waterloo, IL, and Lisa (William) Bradley of Waterloo, IL; a brother, Anthony Gischer of Belleville, IL; a brother-in-law, Leo Baumgarner of Shiloh, IL; three grandchildren, Katy (John) Hugger, Charles Eilers, and Chris (Jessica) Eilers; six great grandchildren, Josh, Kaleb, Jordan, and Keegan Hugger and Waylon and Leighton Eilers; 12 step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren. She was a loving aunt, cousin, and friend.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017, at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Bethany United Methodist Church, Columbia, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at the church, with Pastor Allynn Walker officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
