Leonard "Len" Gibson, 72, of Cahokia, IL., born March 11, 1944 in St. Louis, MO., passed away on Friday February 24, 2017 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Leonard was retired from Washington University, St. Louis, MO. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Preceded in death by his wife Vickie, nee Carter, Gibson; his mother, Melba Gibson; two sisters, Donna and Shirley Gibson.

Surviving are his children, Velvett (Darrell) Burns of Waterloo, IL., Matthew Gibson of Evansville, IN., Kimberly (Jim) Williams of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Penni Gibson of Loveland, Colorado; three sisters, Melba (Tim) Porter of Collinsville, IL., Marie Baucom of Collinsville, IL., Naomi (John) Emrich of Lexington, KY.; one brother, Ralph (Kathy) Gibson of Franklin, KY.; four grandchildren, Amanda (Ron) Mendez, Luke Jones, Ethan Gibson, Jacob Williams; great granddaughter, Bonnie Mendez. He was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Visitation on Thursday March 2, 2017 at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, IL. from 4 to 8 P.M.

Funeral service 12 noon on Friday March 3, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Duff officiating. Burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
