Leonard M. Beck, 99, of Cahokia, Illinois born November 4, 1917 in Sappington, Mo. passed away on Jan. 7, 2017 at his home.
Leonard was a retired switchman from the Terminal Railroad. He was always interested in history and throughout his many experiences over 99 years, he loved to tell the story of riding his bicycle near Lambert Field to watch Charles Lindbergh practice flying.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen nee Furlow, his father Oliver and mother Leota, step-son, Bill Tweedy, and other siblings.
Surviving are his son Mike (Kelly) Beck, step-daughter, Carol Toler, step-son, Larry Toler, daughter-in law, Diane Goodrich; three grandchildren, Brandon Beck, Justin Beck, Kasandra (Sean) Adams nee Tweedy; three great-grandchildren Lauren Adams, Sydney Adams, Ty Adams. He was a dear brother, uncle, father, grandfather and friend to many.
A gravesite service was held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Tuesday Jan. 10, 2017 with full military honors.
