Lawrence "Doc" Lee Hutson, 100, of Columbia, Illinois, formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, born November 3, 1916, in Sligo, Missouri, died Monday, March 20, 2017, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Mr. Hutson retired as a Vice President with New England Lead Burning Co. in St. Louis, MO, and later became a Consultant for Larry Goad & Company, Inc. He was a longtime member of Bethel United Church of Christ in Cahokia, IL, before transferring to St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, IL. Doc's first priority was always his family and he loved spending time with his daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. In his spare, time he enjoyed participating in various area cars shows, proudly displaying his 1931 Model A Ford and several VW bugs. Doc was a member of the Metro East Volkswagen Club, an avid fan of wrestling and the St. Louis Cardinals.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle, nee Bade, Hutson; his parents, James and Viola, nee Eggers, Hutson; and eight siblings.
Surviving are his daughter, JoAnne Odem of Columbia, IL; his grandchildren, Larry (Brenda) Pennock of Waterloo, IL, Sherry (Dana) Montgomery, Debbie Killy, and Diane (James) Nichols, all of Columbia, IL, and Angie (Jim) Palmier of Smithton, IL; 13 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Friends may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017 at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the funeral home, with Pastor Bob Goddard officiating. Burial will be in Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery, Columbia, Illinois.
