LaVerne "Pete" E. Montine, 92, of Cahokia, Illinois, born June 13, 1924 in Cahokia, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Mari de Villa in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Mr. Montine was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia, IL., and Knights of Columbus council 4596 in Cahokia, IL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Montine, nee Rey; a son, Vern Montine; his parents, Leonard and Clarabelle Montine; two brothers; and one sister.

Surviving are his daughter, Sue (Chuck) Renner of Cahokia, IL; five grandchildren, April (Chad) Slagle, Steve (Katie) Renner, Rob (Julie) Renner, Chelsea (Cory) Metter and Rachel (Nick Covert) Renner; and 13 great grandchildren. He was a dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.

A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia, Illinois with Father Linus Umoren officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery St. Louis, Missouri. Private cremation was held
