Laurence Lee Kennedy, 73, of Collinsville, IL, passed away on September 7, 2023, at 12:02 a.m. after a long battle with saying things out loud that you weren't supposed to say.

Laurence was born on September 10, 1949, to William Benton Kennedy & Phyllis Dean Kennedy (Lee) in East St. Louis, IL. He is survived by his children; Daughter Lindsay Eversmeyer (Kennedy) and Son Logan Kennedy; Son-in-Law Aaron Eversmeyer, Grandsons Kaleb Bassett and Gryfin Eversmeyer; sister Jo Carole Abert (Kennedy) and Brother-in-Law Gregg Abert, 4 nephews, and too many other family, friends, and loved ones to mention.  He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Gerald Kennedy and his Sister-in-Law, Mary Kennedy.

That is about as much as he would want printed in his obituary.  He hated funerals and everything that had to do with them.  They are typically sad, and Larry was more about making people laugh with his crude and inappropriate comments.  Even on his deathbed, while being intubated and sedated, he heard the doctor say something he didn't like and he somehow found the strength to lift his middle finger, causing everyone in the room to burst out laughing.

If you are interested in paying your respects to Larry, his service will be on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.  All are welcome.  A celebration of his life will be immediately following at Turner Hall in Columbia, IL.

Any memorials can be donated to the Republican party for the next election, which he wasn't sure if he could live through another election anyway with him having high blood pressure.
