Larry "80 Spokes" J. Whaley, 67 of Columbia, IL, born July 20, 1955 in Oliver Springs, TN, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.

Larry was a US Army Veteran and retired from IDOT after 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, riding motorcycles, building cars and motorcycles along with helping others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Delores Whaley, nee Elstrom; son, Mark James Whaley; and a brother Terry Whaley.

Surviving are his loving wife, Patty Whaley, nee Manning; children, Michael James Whaley of St. Louis, MO, Patricia L. (Joseph II) Garcia of Columbia, IL and David (Jeremy Mattingly) Whaley of Waterloo, IL; brother, Eugene (Jan) Whaley of New Athens, IL; sister, Linda (Mike) Pair of Jackson, MO; ten grandchildren, Ashlee (Dean), Shannon (Austin), Madelynn, Izabelle (Christian), Jordyn, Alizjah, Bridget, Kaylyn, Ariana and Joseph III; and five great grandchildren, Sophia, Natalee, Wesson, Raneri, Greylynn and little man on the way. He was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Braun Family Funeral Home Columbia, IL.

Funeral service on Wednesday, September, 28, 2022 at 9:30 AM at the funeral home with Reverend Jonathan Peters officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
