Obituary

LARRY HENRY CARPENTER, 69. of Troy, Illinois, formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, born May 17, 1948 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, died Thursday, May 18, 2017, at his residence.

Larry was retired from the CSX (formerly B & O) Railroad in East St. Louis and Chicago, IL and was a member of the BRAC Local 1200. He was a US Army veteran and served in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the Ducks Unlimited Committee. Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lois, nee Gregory, Carpenter and a sister, Phyllis Sullins.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 46 years, Beverly Carpenter, nee Reeder; a daughter, Jamie Carpenter of Troy, IL; his siblings, Robert (Deborah) Carpenter of Cahokia, IL, Diane (George) Gilbert of Salem, MO, Steve (Betty) Waller of Cahokia, IL, and Dan (Rita) Waller of McKinney, TX. He was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Association.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2017, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Illinois A Memorial Service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Roger Reid officiating. In following Larry's wishes, his body was cremated.
