Kyle Matthew Schreckenberg, 25, of Columbia, IL passed away on May 21, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on May 24, 2000 in St. Louis, MO, along with his twin brother, Christopher. Kyle and his brothers, Kevin and Chris, had an incredibly strong bond and were always there for each other.
Kyle had a smile that could light up any room. He enjoyed traveling, road trips, trying new restaurants, going to the gym, and spending time with family and friends. He was willing to help anyone who needed it at any moment. To know him was to love him. As his last act of kindness, Kyle donated his organs to help save the lives of others.
Kyle graduated from Columbia High School and Southwestern Illinois College. He worked as a salesman at Suntrup Hyundai in St. Louis, and was loved by his co-workers. Kyle had frequent return customers due to his honest, transparent demeanor and incredible integrity.
Kyle was preceded in death by his uncle, Daniel Schreckenberg. He is survived by his parents, Tad and Ruth Schreckenberg (nee Underwood), of Columbia; two brothers, Kevin Schreckenberg of Waterloo, and Chris Schreckenberg, of Columbia; grandparents John and Helen Schreckenberg of Cahokia, Rick and Janice Watson of Millstadt, and Ray Underwood of Waterloo; as well as uncles, aunts, and cousins who loved him dearly.
Visitation will be held at Braun Family Funeral Home, 265 Quarry Road in Columbia, on Friday, May 29 from 4-8 p.m. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Church in Cahokia at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, with Father Paul Wienhoff and Father Andy Knopik officiating. Burial will be in Palmier Cemetery, Columbia, Illinois.
Charitable donations in Kyle's memory can be made to Hero 101 Fund or Backstoppers.
