KAREN SUE STEPHENS, nee Alberts, 74, of Cahokia, Illinois, born March 30, 1943, in Taylorville, Illinois, died Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Mercy Rehab and Care Center in Swansea, Illinois.

Karen was preceded in death by her father, William C. Alberts; her mother, Lucille M. Clarke, nee Baughman; two brothers, Cecil and Harlan Alberts; and three sisters, Nancy Scholes, Sandy Cummings, and Freda Dailey.

Surviving are her children, Brian (JoAnne) Stephens of Arnold, MO, Brent Stephens of East St. Louis, IL, Brett Stephens of Cahokia, IL; and Tandi (Brad) Stevens of Fayetteville, AR; a daughter-in-law, Dianne Stephens of Columbia, IL; a special nephew, Gary Dailey, Jr. of Bonne Terre, MO and a niece, Janice (Mike) O'Connor of Waterloo, IL; three brothers, John (Sharon) Alberts of Bloomington, IL, Gary (Muffy) Alberts of Taylorville, IL, Jim (Brenda) Clarke, Jr. of Denver, CO;a sister, Stella (Roy) Alvey of Enid, OK; ten grandchildren, Amy, Julie, Ashley, Zoe, Emily, Mallory, Brett, Jr., Kayla, Noah, Eli; and six great grandchildren. She was a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Private cemetery services will be held at Valhalla Mausoleum of Memory, Belleville, Illinois. Arrangements were handled by Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois.
