Joyce A. Whelchel, nee Gossage, 67, of East Carondelet, IL. born August 29, 1950 in St. Louis, MO., passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Joyce was a member of the Lyons Club and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary both of Cahokia, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Whelchel and her father, Johney Gossage.

Surviving are her children, Raymond Whelchel of East Carondelet, IL., Kim (Charles) Woods of Leacheville, ARK., Stacy (Curtiss) Johnston of Kinmudy, IL., Paula (Steve) Roberts of Hillsboro, MO., Mary Whelchel of Cuba, MO.; her mother, Vanda Gossage of Bourbon, MO.; two brothers, Charles Gossage of Bourbon, MO., Johney (Dee) Gossage II of St. Clair, MO.; a sister, Sandy (Leon) Short of Cuba, MO.; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren. She was a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Visitation on Wednesday February 7, 2018 at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, IL. from 4 to 8 P.M.

Funeral service 1 P.M. on Thursday February 8, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
