Joy Joan Bretz, nee Jansen,90 of Columbia, Illinois, born June 29, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Joy was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia, IL and was retired from Anheuser Busch in St. Louis, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Bretz Jr.; parents, George and Anna Mae, nee Haley, Jansen; and a brother, John Jansen.

Surviving are her children, Mary Ann (Steve) Abegg and Edwin "Skip" Rakel both of Columbia, IL; stepson, Alvin Bretz III; and two grandchildren, Morgan (Colin) Handel and Michael Abegg. She was also a dear aunt, cousin and friend.

A Mass of the Christian Burial was held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia, Illinois, followed by a burial at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Illinois.
