Obituary

JOSEPH W. NOVACK, 96, of Nashville, Illinois, formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, born December 26, 1920, in East St. Louis, Illinois, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Friendship Manor in Nashville, Illinois.

Joe was retired from Fairmont Park Race Track. Along with his brother, he was the former owner/operator of Joe and Ted's Tavern in East St. Louis, IL. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church, Belleville, IL and the V.F.W.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia M. Novack, nee Rockett; a son, William Novack; his parents, John and Mary, nee Raskawski, Novack; a brother, Ted Novack; two sisters, Bernice Deluvia and Stella Rafalowski.

Surviving are his companion, Virginia Novack of Nashville, IL; grandsons William Novack of Cahokia, IL and Robert (Aziza) Novack of O'Fallon, IL; four great grandchildren, Rachael, Morgan, Benjamin, and Jacob Novack; a brother, Albert Nowak of Belleville, IL; seven nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made in the form of Masses at St. Henry's.

Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 3, 2017, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Illinois. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Father Kenneth York officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, Illinois.
