Jose "Pat" P. Melendez, 73, of Cahokia, IL, formerly of New York, born December 29, 1947 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, died Saturday, February 6, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O'Fallon, IL.

Jose was a retired accountant from Sheraton Centre, Manhattan, NY and Best Western Cobleskill, NY. He enjoyed going to the Cahokia Senior Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline, nee Fiumara, Melendez; parents, Jose and Rosario, nee Silva, Melendez

Surviving are his children, Michelle (Terrance Dunlap) Melendez of Cahokia, IL; Linda (Andrew Warden) Leonard of Bay Shore, NY, and Victoria Sosa of Amsterdam, NY; a brother, Carlos "Charlie" Melendez of Germany; 11 grandchildren, Joseph, Timothy, Tiffany, Madalynn, Madison, Janessa, A'niyah, Kyvon, Nariyah, Briana, and Javon; and a great grandson. He was also a dear uncle, cousin, and friend.

A private cremation will be held and his ashes will be taken back to New York for burial in the Spring.
