Jose Cecena, 93, of Waterloo, Illinois, formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, born November 27, 1925 in Tesistan Jalisco Mexico, died Sunday, September 29, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Cecena was the owner/operator of Cecena's Jewelry in Cahokia, Belleville, and Shiloh, IL. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo, IL and the St. Clair County East Rotary Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Zacarias and Paula, nee Olmos, Cecena; a sister, Genoveva Gallegos; and two grandchildren, Nathaniel Ebers and Abby Cecena.
Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Maria Cecena, nee Vargas; his children, Maricela "Marcy" (Ken) Ebers of Columbia, IL, and Tony (Lisa) Cecena and Curtis Cecena, both of Waterloo, IL; a sister-in-law, Jael (Jorge) Ibarra (and son, Jorge Samuel Ibarra); six grandchildren, Christina (Tim) Valentine, Andrea (Dave) Bodinet, Ryan (Breanne) Cecena, Olivia (Tom) Junker, Madison (Sean) Pass, and Kady Cecena; six great grandchildren, Ella Valentine, Camden, Emmett, and Isabel Bodinet, and Madeline Junker; and his special dog friend, Lucky; He was also a dear brother-in-law, uncle cousin, and friend

Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois. Funeral procession to leave at 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, from the funeral home to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia, Illinois for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of the Christian Burial, with Monsignor Carl Scherrer officiating. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, Columbia, Illinois.
