Johnnie Dill Montgomery, Sr., of Birch Tree, MO, formerly of East Carondelet, IL, born March 2, 1929, in Rising Star, TX, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Ozark Medical Center, West Plains, MO.
John was a retired mechanic from Kroger Bakery in St. Louis, MO and a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, nee Pankey, Montgomery; a son, Tyrone Montgomery; his parents, Lee Roy and Lula, nee Price, Montgomery, Sr.; five brothers, Jack, Lee Roy, Lawrence, Dalton, and Robert Montgomery; and two sisters, Mae Cannon and Evalena Hines.
Surviving are his wife, Sue, nee Kitchens, Montgomery; his children, John (Connie), Tracy, Daniel (Tracy), Albert, Mark, and Rebekah Montgomery; a brother Glen Montomery: grandchildren, Aiden, Julian, and Sebastian Montgomery, Catrina (Kenneth S.) Melkowski, Jennetta (Rick) Anderson, Travis (Rachel) Montgomery, and Lonnie (Brandi Ketten) Montgomery; great grandchildren, Charity (Silas) DeMay, Jonah, Caleb, Emily, Audrey, Silvia, Jeremiah, and Olivia Melkowski, Isaac, Jordan, Cody, Sierra, Dakota, Dawson, and Tyson Anderson, and Dylan, Conway, and Colt Montgomery; and a great great grandson, James DeMay. He also was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Larry Croy officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
