Obituary

John Franke, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 13, 2026, at the age of 70.

As a lineman, John spent his career keeping the lights on for others. He carried that same calling into every part of his life, even after retirement, humbly and faithfully providing for those who depended on him. He was steady, strong, and guided by the belief that any job worth doing should be done right the first time.

He was a devoted and active member of Concord Presbyterian Church, where his faith shaped the way he lived: with loyalty, integrity, and a deep sense of responsibility to serve and care for others.

Though he worked tirelessly, John especially treasured life's simpler moments. He found peace outdoors—hunting, organizing his tools, relaxing in nature, and appreciating the stillness of the woods and the satisfaction of a well-earned rest. Once he set his mind to something, it was rarely reconsidered, a quiet determination well known and respected by those who loved him.

With his wife, he shared a love of antique shopping and discovering overlooked treasures others might have passed by. He had a keen eye for hidden gems and a deep appreciation for history, craftsmanship, and a good bargain.

More than anything, John was a man others could lean on. He took responsibility for those around him, making sure they were cared for and provided for without ever seeking recognition. His legacy is one of hard work, quiet faith, steadfast devotion, and humble strength—a life well lived and deeply cherished.

John married Cindy (née Crawford) Franke on November 27, 1976. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Ross (Katie) Franke and Laura (Patrick) Peterson; his grandsons, Oliver and Miles Franke and Barrett and Casey Peterson; his mother, Vera Franke; and many other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his father, Robert Franke, and his sister, Judy (John) Kremmel.
