John R. Braun, 91, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, born July 5, 1934 in Centreville, Illinois, died on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Dammert Nursing Center at Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, Illinois.

John was retired from O'Neil Lumber Company in East St. Louis, IL, after 42 years. He loved to travel and go camping. He enjoyed listening to country music and watching sports. He was a U. S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, of over sixty years, Alma "Joan" Braun, nee Alyward; a son, Timothy Braun; parents, George and Bertha, nee Dehn, Braun; three brothers, Robert, Frederick, and Frank Braun; four sisters, Albertha Braun, Lucille  Cory, Luella Merchut, and Fern Bull; a granddaughter, Angel Braun.

Surviving are his son, Thomas (Angie Schroen) Braun of Swansea, IL; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Braun of Winston - Salem, NC; his grandchildren, Konrad and Olivia Braun of Winston - Salem, NC; and a sister-in-law, Emily Braun. He was also a dear uncle, cousin, and friend.

Friends may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Illinois.
