Joann Phillips, nee Ferkel, 85, of Belleville, IL, formerly of Cahokia, IL. born July 14, 1936 in St. Louis, MO, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Belleville Memorial Hospital.

Joann was a lifelong member of Maplewood Church of Christ in Cahokia, IL. She served as the custodian of the church for many years, Joann loved all of God's creatures, sewing and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Phillips; her parents, Joseph and Leona, nee Koch, Ferkel; a sister, Betty Blecha; and two brothers, Jack and Joe Ferkel.

Surviving are her children, Janice (David) Dodds of Jefferson City, MO, Charlene (Mark) Seaboldt of Orrick, MO, Kerry Phillips of Millstadt, IL, Ruth Jones (Phillips) of Albers, IL,and Rebecca (Dave Beckner) Phillips of Belleville, IL; a brother, Roscoe Ferkel of Missouri; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Joann was also a dear aunt, sister-in-law, cousin and friend to many.

Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Braun Family Funeral Home, 265 Quarry Rd., Columbia, IL. Funeral services will begin at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Ruiz officiating. Private cremation was held
