Jerry Michael Chesney, 68, of Collinsville, Illinois, born April 25, 1952, in Cincinnati, Ohio, died Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at his residence.
Jerry was retired from Gary Safe Co. in Blue Ash, OH. He was a Vietnam War U.S. Marine Corps. veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post 365 in Collinsville, IL and the United Steel Workers Local 8706 in Cincinnati, OH and was a sports enthusiast, blogger, and an avid Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds fan. Jerry was known for his fun loving nature and humor; remembered as a devoted father, and grandpa. He had a gift for making others feel like old friends. Jerry enjoyed living life simply with adventure and travel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Frieda, nee Scherz, Chesney; a daughter, Christina Chesney; and a brother, Thomas Chesney.
Surviving are a daughter, Kym (Bill) Brendley of Columbia, IL; a son, Kenneth Chesney of New York; a granddaughter, Jasmine Lanton of St. Louis, MO; his siblings, Cynthia West of Louisiana, and Jill, Donald, Mark, and Michael Chesney, all of Georgia; and his former wife and lifelong friend, Fay Roginski of Cincinnati, OH. He was also a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.
In following Jerry's wishes a private cremation was to be held and his ashes are to be buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. A Memorial Service will be planned for a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois,
