James Charles Torry, 60, of Dupo, Illinois, formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, born August 30, 1962 in Pomona, California, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Jim was employed by Professional Installers for over 30 years.  He was an avid race car and dirt track fan. He enjoyed Bar-B-Queing for the family; gardening, and riding around on his golf cart visiting neighbors.  Jim loved going on vacations and his most memorable vacation was going in an RV on a Route 66 road trip from Illinois to California.  During that trip Jim got to visit his childhood home in California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Barbara, nee Dixon, Torry; a sister, Pamela K. Anderson; his grandparents, Otis and Ruby Beckman; mother-in-law, Marlene O'Guinn; sister-in-law, Kim Torry; and a niece Alyssa Hargrove.

Surviving are his loving wife, Carolyn Torry, nee Bradshaw; step mother, JoAnn Torry of Cadiz, KY; two brothers, Jay (Debbie) Torry and Michael (Peggy) Torry, both of Protem, MO; two step brothers, Gary "Gig" (Cindy) McBride of Dupo, IL and Rick (Kim) McBride of Cadiz, KY; a brother-in-law, Jerry Anderson of Columbia, IL; and two special nephews, Larry Hargrove (and Teegan) and Adam Bradshaw,  whom he had a special bond with due to Jim constantly teasing with him and calling him Billy; and a niece, BJ Schmidt.  He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Sharon (Michael) Lovell of East Carondelet, IL and Terri (Dennis) Harvell of Dupo; IL; a brother-in-law, Don (Patty) Bradshaw of Dupo, IL; and 25 nieces and nephews that were very special to him.  Jim had many special friends.

Friends may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the funeral home, with Pastor Roger Reid officiating.  Burial will be in Palmier Cemetery, Columbia, Illinois.
