James T. Simmons, 78, of Cahokia, IL., born November 9, 1946 in Tulsa, OK, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at St. Louis University Hospital.

James retired as a First Sergeant in the US Army after serving 20 years. James was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Cahokia, IL.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife; Caroleta Simmons, nee Brooner; his two daughters, Tommie Simmons and Mary Yarnell;. one sister, Melody; and a great granddaughter, Maddison Huff.

Surviving are his daughter, Renaye (Sam) Eastwood of White Hall, AR; one sister, Lyndi Adams of Oklahoma;  six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. James was also a dear uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and friends to many.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Braun Family Funeral Home, 265 Quarry Rd. Columbia, IL. Funeral services will begin at 12:00  noon with Brother Mike Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National  Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
