James D. Kennon, 86, of Cahokia, Illinois, born January 9, 1936 in Esther, Missouri , died Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Bria of Cahokia Nursing Home.

James was retired from Chrysler Corp. in Fenton, MO. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the UAW Local 136 in Fenton, MO and the American Legion. He had a passion for painting and drawing and he was very good at it. He also was an avid model car collector and he enjoyed woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur L. and Christina L., nee Reeves, Kennon; a son, Chuck Kennon; three brothers, Elbert, Leroy, and Arthur Kennon; and four sisters, Patsy Wilmore, Betty Nevelle, Helen Vogt, and Geneva Gunter.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Shirley Kennon, nee Overstreet;; his children,, Richard (Barbara) Kennon of Lonoke, AR, Robert (Maria) Kennon of Fort Madison, IA, Rachel Kennon of Rochester, NH, Randall Kennon of Swansea, IL, David (Cindy) Kennon of Chattanooga, TN,, Kurtis (Nancy) Kennon of Jefferson City, MO, and Jimmy (Darlene) Kennon of Park Hills, MO; three brothers, Lonnie (Sharon) Kennon of Park Hills, MO, Darrel (Ilda) Kennon of Pevely, MO, and Alfred (Georgia) Kennon of Farmington, MO; a sister, Bonnie Duncan of Pevely, MO; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. James was also a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

In following James' wishes a private cremation was to be held.

Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Illinois was entrusted with the care of Mr. Kennon.
