James L. Carrico, age 59, from Cahokia, Illinois passed away suddenly in New Port News, Virginia on October 14, 2021. James was born on November 14, 1961 in Belleville, Illinois and grew up in Cahokia, Illinois.  He was a graduate of Holy Family Grade School and Cahokia High School in 1979 where he was a member of the ensemble group playing bass guitar. After high school he joined a band and played bass guitar and traveled all over the United States for several years. He settled down in Virginia Beach, Virginia and continued life as a painter- drywall contractor. In his later years he spent time in Clarksdale, Mississippi and became friends with many Blues Musicians and that became his passion for the remainder of his short life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Norman Carrico, grandparents, Earl and Catherine Weber and Leo and Hallie Carrico and several Aunts and Uncles.

He is survived by his son, Justin Dale Carrico of New Port News, Virginia, his mother, Dorothy A (Weber) Carrico of Cahokia, Illinois, brother, Thomas A. (Kathi) Carrico of Millstadt, Illinois, Jeffrey (Amy) Carrico of Waterloo, Illinois and a sister, Michelle (Logan) Lawson of Cahokia, Illinois, his Aunt Dolores Weber of Belleville, Illinois and Uncle Joseph Edward (Barb) Carrico of Maryville, Illinois and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Illinois.  A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Father Osang Idagbo CM officiating.  Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, Illinois.
