HAROLD C. BENNE, SR., 85, of Waterloo, Illinois, born January 12, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Des Peres Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family.

Harold was retired from the Cahokia Police Dept. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waterloo, IL; Emeth Lodge 1030 A.F. & A.M., Cahokia, IL; and the Illinois Police Association.

He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Benne; a son-in-law, Vince Bommarito, Jr.; his parents, Louis and Ella, nee Schewe, Benne; two brothers, Wilbert and Louis Benne; and a sister, Lorraine Zehner.

Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Florence L. Benne, nee Kilgore; his children, Zachary (Elinor) Benne of Peoria, IL; Linda Bommarito of Waterloo, IL; Tina (Kelly) Folts of Austin, TX, Leasa (Robert) Ferry of Edwardsville, IL, Shelly Stratmann of Park Hills, MO; and Harold Benne, Jr. of Waterloo, IL; a daughter-in-law, Eileen Benne of Peoria, IL; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. He was dear uncle, cousin, and friend.

Memorials may be made to Backstoppers or Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children.

Friends may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the funeral home with Rev. Ron Chase officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Illinois.
