Georgia G. Palmer passed away in her sleep, peacefully, May 7, 2022, at 11:30 a.m
Georgia was born Sept. 20, 1927, in St. Louis, MO. She was the fourth child of eight born to Iley Edward and Grace Parrilee (Williams) Wilson who have preceded her in death.
She attended eight different school in Illinois, before graduating from O'Fallon Hight School in June of 1945.
The family moved to Southern IL. In March 1947, while she stayed in St. Louis to work. She worked in several offices as a figures clerk.
She met Billie Ray Harding and they married Sept. t, 1952. From this union came one handsome little boy whom the named William Raymond Harding.
They moved and lived in Cahokia, IL for ten years, until Bill passed away on Oct. 3rd, 1963, of a massive heart attack. While living in Cahokia, all three attended Dupo First Baptist Church, and Bill and Georgia joined the church immediately. Ray was Baptized at the age of 7 and joined the church.
When Bill passed Georgia Quit working at Pet Milk Co. and went back to school at SIUE. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She taught for 3 ½ years at Penniman School in Cahokia, then transferred to Dupo, IL elementary school. She taught 6th grade until her retirement in 1989. After retiring she tutored children, which gave her great satisfaction.
She married Oscar Palmer, from the Church in Dupo, on March 31, 1973.
They Both enjoyed traveling and went on extensive vacation out West. During this time Georgia went back to SIUE and Completed her Master of Counseling.
She was very involved on her church, teaching Sunday School (adults) and vacation Bible School. She served in the choir, served as treasurer, volunteered on various committees, and especially enjoyed working on the building committee that resulted in the beautiful edifice on Godin Avenue.
Georgia was preceded in death by: Iley Edward and Grace Parrilee Wilson (parents);Billie Ray Harding, (husband); William Raymond Harding (son); Oscar Palmer (husband);Frieda and Edward Akers (sister and brother-in-law); Edward Eugene and Helen Wilson (brother and sister-in-law); Butch Wilson (nephew); Earline Parker (sister); Al Leitzmann (brother-in-Law): Joseph Parker (brother-in-law); Daniel Lloyd and Jean Brawbridge Wilson (brother and sister-in-law); Orville Wilson (brother); Ricky Wilson (nephew); Robert Wilson (brother); William Jones (brother-in-law).
She is survived by one sister; Barbara Jeanne (Wilson) Jones; one grandson, Richard William Harding; and many nieces and nephews whom she deeply loved.
