George Wagner, Jr., 92, of Columbia, Illinois, formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, was born on December 29, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri, and went to rest peacefully in his sleep on Monday, March 26, 2018, at his residence.
Mr. Wagner retired from Belleville Pattern Company. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #4596, both in Cahokia, Illinois. He was an avid bowler who once bowled a perfect 300 game in his younger years. He loved working in his wood shop making all kinds of neat things and he loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals through the good and bad times. He was the Past President of St. Joseph's League in Cahokia.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Wagner, nee Berkley; a son, Kenneth "K.C." Wagner; his father, George Wagner Sr., and his foster parents, Charles and Alma Garthe; two brothers, Robert Wagner and Kenneth Garthe; and two sisters, Lois Goeddel and Virginia (Nick) DiGeralmo.
Surviving are his loving wife, Fern M. Wagner nee Eich; his children, Patricia (Dale) Winter of Bloomington, Indiana, Robert (Bridget) Wagner of Columbia, Illinois, Verna (Johnny) Ramirez of Dupo, Illinois and George (Mary) Wagner of East Carondelet, Illinois; a step-son, Martin (Linda) Faulkner of Decatur, Alabama; 2 brother-in-laws Glen Lowery and Jim Lowery oth of Michigan. 12 grandchildren, Christopher (Cari), Karen (Alan), Margaret, Brian, Jonathan (Heather), Amanda, Emily (Jim), Andrew (Robyn), Daniel, Adam (Miranda), Courtney, and Nichole; and 11 great grandchildren. He was also a dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018, at Braun Family Funeral Home, 265 Quarry Rd. Columbia, Illinois and from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the funeral home. Funeral procession to leave at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, to Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia for 10:00 a.m. Mass of the Christian Burial with Father Shaun Lowery and Father Linus Umoren officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Illinois.
