Eugene "Gene" E. Redd, 94, of Waterloo, Illinois, formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, born April 19, 1925 in Streator, Illinois, died Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at the New Athens Home for the Aged.

Gene was a retired truck driver from Middlewest Freightways in St. Louis, MO. He was a World War II and Korean War U.S. Navy veteran. He was a former member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia, IL. Gene was also a member of Teamsters Local 600 in St. Louis, MO; V.F.W. Post 1699 of Cahokia, IL; and the Knights of Columbus 4596 of Cahokia, IL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Redd, nee Ruiz; a daughter, Karen K. Redd; his parents, Harry and Agnes, nee Chrismar, Redd; a brother, Donald Redd; and two sisters, Dorothy Stone and Delores Wicks;

Surviving are his children, Eugene Redd II of St. Louis, MO, Edward Hamlin of Texas, Ronald (Terrie) Hamlin of Waterloo, IL, and Patricia (Scott) Kappler of Waterloo, IL; two brothers, Harry (Marcia) Redd of Collinsville, IL and Terrence (Peggy) Redd of Bloomington, IL; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Stephen, and Crystal Hamlin, Christina Gilmore, Kayla and Ryan Hamlin, Misty Kluba, Melissa (Stan) Smith, and Lisa Day; and 15 great grandchildren. He was also a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Friends may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2019, at the funeral home, with Monsignor Marvin Volk officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
