EUGENE "GENE" W. DENNISON, 73, of Cahokia, Illinois, born February 13, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri, died Thursday, May 11, 2017, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Gene was retired from Cerro Copper in Sauget, IL. He was a member of the Steelworkers Union.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ellen Mary Dennison; his parents, Forester and Mary Jane, nee Eads, Dennison; a brother, Rick Maxon; and a grandson, Dylan Dennison.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 34 years, Pat, nee Simmons, Dennison; his children, Carl (Sarah) Hoffer, Chris (Gina) Hoffer, Cathy (James) Maples, Willie (Geraldine) Dennison, Wayne (Tanya) Dixon, and Billy (Dina Shepherd) Dixon; three brothers, Ron (Mary) Maxon, Bill (Arlene) Maxon and Bob Maxon; a sister, Elaine Jenkins; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Illinois. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Roger Reid officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
