Ellen May Mantz, nee Sindel, 95, of Waterloo, IL, formerly of Cahokia, IL, born May 29, 1929, in St. Louis, Missouri, died Saturday, January 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Ellen held various administrative positions during her working career with AAA, Macy's, and Independent Packing Company. She was a member and Officer in the WIBC and a member and Officer in the Ladies Golf League at Mystic Oak Golf Course (formerly The Ridge Golf Course) in Waterloo, Illinois. She co-founded an annual golf tournament that awarded college scholarships for young women supported by the Ladies Golf League.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Donald Gene Mantz, Sr.; a son, Donald Gene Mantz, Jr. (Susie); a grandson, Darryl T Mantz; her parents, Frank Sindel and Pearl Helmbacher; her step father, Charlie Helmbacher; two sisters, Gloria Sindel and Melva Dot Peart (George); three brothers, Frank Sindel (Virginia), Kenny Sindel (Dot), and Marvin Sindel (Catherine); and In-laws, Roscoe Bud Mantz; Bob Mantz (Lupe); Dave Dickerson (Norma); and Jim Mantz (Jackie).
Surviving are her children, Darlene (Rick) Ehrhard and Kevin (Lora) Mantz; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Mantz and Carol Riggs; five grandchildren, Dal (Christine), Jennifer (Brian), Scott (Kristi), Kyle, Daren (Mary); and eleven great grandchildren, Kaleigh, Drake, Ella, Madison, Reese, Olivia, Darryl Jr., Emerson, River, Wyatt and Harrison.

Friends may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at Braun Family Funeral Home, 265 Quarry Road, Columbia, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025 at the funeral home with Pastor Kristofer Avise-Rouse officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri
