Edna "Maxine" Smith, nee Jones, 90 of Cahokia, IL, born December 9, 1934 in Benton, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025 in Breeze, IL.

Maxine was a long time member of Maplewood Park Baptist Church in Cahokia, IL and then a member of First Baptist Church Columbia in Columbia, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Walter" Smith; parents, Clarence and Estlaleda Jones, nee Spencer; son, Kevin Montgomery-Smith; brother, Ervin Jones; grandson, Eli Montgomery-Smith.

Surviving are her sons, Gary (Ginger) Smith of Barnhart, MO, Marty (Barb) Smith of St. Jacob, IL; daughter-in-law, Kelly Eckelkamp; eight grandchildren, Kristi (Jim), Jeff (Sonya), Drew, Brent (Jessie), Tate (Kayla), Jackson (Grace), Courtney (Shane), Hannah (Dakota); 11 great grandchildren, one great great grand. She was also a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, IL.

Funeral Service at 9:00 AM on Monday, February 24, 2025 at the funeral home with Pastor Jonathan Peters officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
